Iranian animation ‘The 11th Step’ wins at Sedicicorto Film Festival

Iranian animation ‘The 11th Step’ garners the Best Film Award at the Sedicicorto Film Festival in Italy.

Iranian animation ‘The 11th Step’ has grabbed the Best Film Award at the 17th edition of the Sedicicorto Film Festival in Italy.

The animation received the Luminor award and a sum of 500 €, which is given to the best film from each section.

Making the animation, the director Maryam Kashkoulinia was inspired by a book with the same title written by Sousan Taqdis.

Although the animation targets 7-12 year-old children, the director believes that it has a lesson for adults too.

‘The Eleventh Step’ focuses on the themes of freedom and captivity; and it indirectly persuades children to try more.

Watching the animation, the child realizes that he or she can gain marvelous results by taking one more step forward.

The animation was previously screened at some international festivals, including the International Children’s Film Festival – Cinekid in the Netherlands, the Korea Independent Animation Film Festival in South Korea, the Zlin Film Festival in the Czech Republic, the Annecy International Animated Film Festival in France, and the Supertoon International Animation Festival in Croatia.

Launched in 2004, the Sedicicorto is held every year in October in the Italian comune of Forlì.

The event aims at offering visibility to young authors and presenting an opportunity of meeting and exchanging among film industry professionals.

The 17th edition of the event was held on October 2-11, 2020.
